Joya Hotels in Shanghai

One of the best hotels I’ve stayed in on my many travels, the best I’ve stayed in in Shanghai. I had checked in and out 3x this trip, and I loved everything from the service, to the room size, location and cleanliness everytime I retur. I’m all about service, and they’ve outdone themselves, sincerest compliments, from the guys at the car porch area, to the concierge, and everyone else. Special mention to Lucie - who helped me with my parcel shipment issue personally and directly with the delivery personnel when she didn’t have to. The team also kindly allowed me to use their numbers when I seeked for help as their delivery platform required a local number (which I did not have). I will 100% be back at this hotel the next time I return to Shanghai. Super pleased.

Pros: The hotel is exceptionally clean and the rooms are very comfortable. Great amenities and good service overall, making it a nice choice for families. There is also a small mall right beside the hotel, which is convenient for quick shopping or meals. Cons: The location is quiet with not much spotlight or things to do nearby. It takes about 10 minutes to walk to the Metro—fine for younger travelers, but not recommended for senior citizens or young children (it's better to call a DiDi instead). Additionally, daily room cleaning details could be improved (like tidying up used cups), there is no self-service dobi (laundry is chargeable), and no free late-night supper/porridge is provided.

This is my third time staying at Gubei Xiyue, and it's just as good as I remember! The facilities, soundproofing, and service are all impeccable. Takashimaya is right across the street, so it's awesome to pop over for a stroll whenever I want. The stay was very comfortable, and the breakfast was incredibly rich with a fantastic dining environment. The cleaning staff were also super kind and approachable. If I ever need to stay in this area again, I'll definitely choose this place!

The hotel is conveniently located right by Zhouqiao Old Street, very easy to find. Across the road are Huilongtan Park and Jiading Confucius Temple, and it's just a few minutes' walk to Jiading Museum and Qiuxia Garden. We had breakfast and then spent the morning exploring the free attractions nearby – the location is truly excellent. Upon check-in, we received a complimentary room upgrade. The room was new and spacious, and the bathroom was particularly roomy. It would have been perfect if there was a bathtub by the window! When we checked out, we were even given coffee as a farewell gift. A big thank you to the handsome Xiao Shao! The hotel has a courtyard and a long corridor, which I believe are preserved from the original old building. There's also a citron tree in the courtyard with many fruits. In the morning, I saw a pile of what looked like fallen fruits in the restaurant.
