The hotel is quite close to the metro, and offers much better value for money than hotels in central Madrid. The breakfast was also excellent. The curtains and windows in the room had a really high-tech feel, and the room itself was very spacious.

Lovely hotel, amazingly centrally situated, and so we were able to walk to all the things we needed to see and do. Breakfast excellent with a good choice of hot and cold food. Staff generally very kind and polite. Our one complaint was that the TV in the bedroom we had, kept losing or freezing the picture on the BBC world news channel, and a small icon kept appearing from LG, which after waiting a while restored the screen. We complained about this on the first morning we were there, and the reception noted it and siad an engineer would go and attend to it. This was not done and for the whole stay sadly we were frustrated by the TV which was really of no use to us what so ever. I have read other similar stories on Tripadvisor about the same complaint, and so clearly the hotel is aware of the problem but seemingly chooses not to do anything about it. This is a shame, beacuse something so easy, and expected would make a huge difference to one's enjoyment of the room. Other than that, really we had no complaints, and would certainly stay again.

The location is very good, close to Puerta del Sol and Retiro Park. However, the cleaning staff had a bad attitude and often opened the door directly into the room. I stayed for three nights and only made the bed one night. One night when I returned to the hotel, I found that the door card for power supply had been pulled out. There were hairs on the towels in the bathroom. The mini bar was not replenished in time. As a five-star hotel, there are many areas that need improvement.

Excellent stay, just as expected from this brand. I upgraded to a higher floor and bigger room for a small fee and really enjoyed the room; spacious, stylish, spotless, and with very comfortable bedding and pillows. The in-room entertainment was great, with a soundbar for Chromecast/YouTube, plus the option to request a turntable or guitar at no extra cost, which was a fun touch. I didn’t use the pool, bar, or restaurant since I preferred exploring the many great dining options within a 5–10 minute walk. The hotel’s location is good: very walkable to Atocha Station (my main reason for choosing it) and close to the city’s three major museums. For getting into town, buses are generally more convenient as the nearest metro is Line 1; for Line 3 (Lavapiés) it’s a short walk, but the route is lively with plenty of restaurants and bars along the way.

2nd time we are staying in this hotel. Located right at the entrance of the high speed train at the Chamartin station. This time we got a room in the highest floor. One little comment is the lack of plug in the room (to charge our phones). And also beware some constructions are ongoing from 9 am at the ground level and are quite loud. Not the hotel fault though.

I had a wonderful stay at The Hat Madrid! The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, the service was excellent, and the hostel was very clean. The location is unbeatable for the price—right in the heart of the city. I also loved the activities they organized, which made it easy to meet people and enjoy the atmosphere. Highly recommend. Would definitely stay again.

The hotel's location is good, and the facilities are decent, but the soundproofing is extremely poor. You can clearly hear guests talking right outside your room door, the sound of water running from the room upstairs is very loud, and even conversations from pedestrians outside the window are perfectly audible. I specifically requested a room away from the elevator when booking, but the two rooms we were given, 135/136, were directly opposite the elevator. I lost a whole night's sleep and then had a long flight the next day, which was genuinely exhausting. I strongly do not recommend this hotel unless you have excellent sleep quality.

This hotel deserves a huge thumbs up! First off, the location is absolutely fantastic – right across from Atocha train station. Even with road construction happening in front, it was surprisingly quiet at night. Second, the front desk staff all spoke English and were incredibly patient explaining how to walk to the high-speed train for Barcelona. It was already 8:20 AM, and our train was departing at 8:57 AM! The cleanliness was good, and breakfast was nice with a great outdoor view. My whole family enjoyed it, though it was a bit chilly. The room size was typical for a European hotel. For anyone needing to catch an early high-speed train, this hotel is definitely the best choice! It's genuinely only a 5-minute walk, maybe even less. Just exit the hotel, turn right, go down to the Metro station, and follow the signs for Atocha railway – you're there!

Same as another review area, I stayed on the 0th floor, facing the street. The soundproofing was very poor. I could hardly sleep at night. And the door could not be locked!!! There was also light leakage!!! I don't recommend booking this hotel. It's really not worth 1500+ a night. The worst hotel I stayed in during my trip to Spain

The room was clean and tidy. The breakfast spread was extensive, with options catering to Chinese palates, including local fried dough sticks (youtiao) and dumplings, all of which tasted great. There was also a wide selection of fresh fruit. The only minor downside was the typical European hotel amenity setup – no complimentary toothbrushes, toothpaste, or slippers provided in the room. The location is also excellent, right next to Retiro Park and the Prado Museum.

This is a serious complaint about the restaurant Market of this hotel. I stayed here for three days this time, every time I sit there for more than 10mins just to wait for service. Others western tourists got served the water immediately. The waiter also did small talk with them, but me? Totally ignored by all the waiters! I have to call them, after I just ordered the sandwich then the waiter grabbed the menu from me! I have to chase him to ask for tea!
