Overall, we had a great stay at Shanghai Elong. The location is excellent, and the service was consistently professional and friendly. However, a few things took away from the experience—many guests were smoking in the lifts and toilets, which was unpleasant. On our check-out day, they started changing the carpet, and there was glue all over the floor, which made our shoes sticky. Despite these issues, it was still a good stay and we’d consider coming back.

Had to change my room twice, first due to a strong cigarette smell emanating from the showers (cigarette buds stubbed in the drain) and another due to a strong urine smell. The staff were courteous throughout the stay and provided timely assistance. I was given an upgraded room on my second room change, which had no smells.
The staff were very helpful and helped my group of friends with the parcels and provided updates on any food deliveries that reached the hotel. I would like to commend the two staff that have helped make my stay more pleasant. 以墨 言初 worked tirelessly to ensure that our rooms are clean and our parcels delivered.

My friends in China recommended this hotel and told me that she loves it because it’s relatively inexpensive compared to similar hotels in the area. She also stressed that it is a native Chinese brand hotel that it is easier for her to order food and just anything she needs. I was pleasantly surprised by its decor, service, cleanliness and modern amenities. Our room had a nice big tub, huge shower and toilet with bidet. It’s been a while since I visited Japan and I forgot how nice to have a bidet. The breakfast was a nice addition to our stay since it is included. It served both Chinese and American breakfast with some nice local dishes. The decor is modern Chinese Jiangnan style featuring paintings, Calligraphy, and 3-D animation of gold fishes. I enjoyed working out at the gym as well. Super clean and all equipment are easy to use. There is a Pilate room as well. I didn’t have time to enjoy it. The staff are friendly and helpful. Not to mention that I asked for a power cord, it was delivered by a robot. Five star experience! .

The room was clean, except for some details like under the bed, where it was full of dust. The closet is small for two people to share and the space available for storing clothes/luggage is in general tiny.
Location of the hotel is nice, as it lies in a quite walkable area, and by foot you can reach the Huaihai Road (good for shopping) in 35m. Metro line 9 is a 15m walk.
The service was okay. The staff at the reception did not speak English and they offered no help or guidance about the city: quite essential service. Their attitude was in general detached and seemed quite un-open to communicating. Also, after leaving the room and realizing there were still some clothes left inside, I tried to report it to the reception and they just sent me to the room to check without even communicating to the cleaning service. It ended up that my clothes were not in the room anymore and the staff offered no further help, so I left without these clothes.
Also, i had explicitly booked a room with “City View” and I was placed in room 1402 with one very dirty window - out of 2 windows available to enjoy the view. After asking to clean it, they made an unsuccessful attempt and then just left me with the dirty window without any kind of compensation. I was only offered to switch to another room in a lower floor and with no city view, which made no sense considering I had paid more specifically to have a room with “City View”.
Breakfast is decent and offers a good variety of food.
The staff is understanding if a host is taking few minutes past closing time to finish the food. The staff at the breakfast floor is also very nice and friendly.
The main perk of the hotel for me was the cafè at the hall, where a very friendly girl employee works. She was very nice and gave me and my girlfriend some unique advice on places to visit in the city. She was of course also making extremely good flat white and coffee.
Balancing everything out though, if was to come back to Shanghai, I would probably choose a different hotel.

จจารุวรรณDisappointing Experience at The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai
I stayed at The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai for two nights, and unfortunately, my experience was far from the luxury service I expected.
1. Discrimination at Flair Rooftop Restaurant
On my first night, I visited Flair, the hotel's rooftop restaurant. Before going, I was told at the lobby that the restaurant operates on a first-come, first-served basis, with no reservations. However, when I arrived at around 5:50 PM, the restaurant was only 20% occupied, yet the host told me it was ”fully booked.”
Then, the host questioned my intent, asking whether I was there for drinks or dinner. When I said ”dinner,” he suddenly mentioned a 1,600-yuan minimum spending requirement. I agreed without hesitation and ended up spending over 2,200 yuan. But what truly bothered me was the initial rejection and the selective enforcement of the minimum charge, implying that I was being judged based on my appearance or nationality. If the restaurant was truly full, why was I offered a table once I confirmed I would spend a significant amount?
2. Misleading Room Upgrade Offer & Hidden Promotions
When I checked in, I had already booked a suite with a city view for around 4,000 yuan. However, the receptionist tried to upsell me a Pearl Tower view for an additional 3,300 yuan, which is an unreasonable price just for a different view.
What’s worse is that she failed to inform me about an existing hotel promotion: (cant remember the amount exactly) If I pre-purchased 1,000 yuan, I could use 1,400 yuan at Flair rooftop restaurant. I only found out about this the next day and when I asked whether I could retroactively apply this promotion to my bill (which was charged to my room), I was told it was not possible because I had to buy the package in advance. Had I known about this offer beforehand, I would have gladly used it. Instead, the staff prioritized upselling me a more expensive view rather than informing me of real benefits available to hotel guests.
3. Concierge Service & Taxi Nightmare
The service at the concierge was another major disappointment. I had a reservation at a Chinese restaurant across the river and asked the concierge to arrange a taxi for me. Knowing that taxis in Shanghai can be unreliable and tricky (as I had experienced the night before with an airport taxi taking me to three wrong hotels and turning off the meter), I was relieved when the concierge used Didi (a ride-hailing app) to book a ride.
However, when the car arrived, the concierge instructed a bellboy to walk me to the car, but he never confirmed whether it was actually mine. Just as the door was closing, a woman with luggage rushed in, claiming it was her ride to the airport. It turned out the car was not for me but for an entirely different passenger!
At this point, I was already late for my dinner reservation. When I walked back to the concierge to ask what happened, he seemed irritated and dismissively said, ”Don’t worry” before reluctantly walking me to the correct car. This lack of professionalism and carelessness was incredibly frustrating. If you’re arranging a ride for a guest, ensure they get into the correct car.
Final Thoughts
This all happened in just one night—I can't imagine what else could go wrong during my stay. I sincerely hope no other guests have to go through such an experience. The Ritz-Carlton brand is known for its luxury and top-tier hospitality, but what I encountered was discriminatory treatment, misleading sales tactics, and poor service coordination.
I hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves their service, ensuring all guests receive fair and professional treatment, regardless of their appearance or nationality.
Ps: nice swimming pool by the way!!

EElenaI wanted to take a moment to share how much my mom and I enjoyed our recent stay at Sofitel Shanghai. The hotel is brand new, spotless, and incredibly comfortable. The rooms are spacious and inviting, making it a perfect retreat.
What really stood out for us was the exceptional service. A special shout-out to Elwyn and Jerry! They truly went above and beyond for the guests. Their warmth and attentiveness made us feel right at home. Whether they were helping us with recommendations for local spots or ensuring we had everything we needed, they were always there with a smile. GGuest UserLocation is excellent, just a street away from the popular and famous Nanjing Road. About the same distance to Fuzhou Road. A short walk to East Nanjing Road train station. The hotel is new and modern. THERE IS FREE SELF SERVICE LAUNDRY. Most important thing to TAKE NOTE: the toilet has an open design. Toilet bowl is behind a door that doesn't lock, Shower is behind another door that also doesn't lock. The sink is open in the room. Which means all 3 can be used at the same time, but anyone using the sink may disturb everyone in the room. Probably best for familiar people to stay together.

GGuest UserI recently stayed at Pullman Shanghai Jing An and was thoroughly impressed by every aspect of this hotel. From its prime location to its thoughtful amenities and outstanding service, it truly exceeded my expectations.
**1. Prime Location & Accessibility**
The hotel’s proximity to **Shanghai Railway Station** and metro lines (1/3/4) makes it a top choice for both business and leisure travelers. I could easily walk to the station in under 5 minutes, and popular attractions like the Bund, Nanjing Road, and People’s Square were just a short drive away. For those arriving by air, Pudong and Hongqiao airports are also within a manageable distance.
**2. Modern, Comfortable Rooms**
My **Executive Suite** was spacious, elegantly designed, and equipped with everything I needed. The bed, with its high-quality linens, was incredibly comfortable, and the rain shower in the bathroom added a touch of luxury. I particularly loved the **Dyson-style hairdryer**—a small detail that made a big difference. The room also featured soundproofing, ensuring a peaceful stay despite the bustling location.
**3. Outstanding Dining & Facilities**
The breakfast spread at **Venu Restaurant** was exceptional, especially the **Shanghai-style scallion oil noodles**—a delicious local highlight. The executive lounge access (via Accor’s Privilege Card) offered a refined atmosphere with tasty snacks and drinks during Happy Hour. The 20-meter indoor pool and well-equipped gym were perfect for unwinding after a busy day.
**4. Impeccable Service**
The staff went above and beyond to ensure a seamless stay. The front desk team was courteous and efficient, even upgrading my room as a loyalty member. Special mention to the concierge for arranging smooth airport transfers and providing helpful local tips.
**5. Commitment to Sustainability**
I appreciated the hotel’s dedication to **ESG initiatives**, such as reducing single-use plastics and participating in Accor’s Planet 21 program. The eco-friendly toiletries and energy-efficient practices aligned perfectly with my values.
**Final Thoughts**
Pullman Shanghai Jing An is a gem for travelers seeking convenience, comfort, and conscientious hospitality. Whether you’re here for business or leisure, this hotel delivers on all fronts. I’ll undoubtedly choose it again on my next visit to Shanghai!

FFunky APThe hotel is really great. The staff is always helpful and of course it's an Accor brand style. I got an upgrade room due to my Ctrip membership rewards, and very spacious room with washing machine and a small kitchen facility. It was like a mini studio room. The place is quite convenient and very quiet. I had a pleasant stay. The breakfast had multiple options, but would request to write down what all was included in the dish or atleast put a sign of vegetarian or non Vegetarian. Overall great hotel room, but it's time to refurbish. I can see quiet oldish and carpet being faded. Thanks Accor, you never disappoint me.

TTriciaaaaaaKunlun Jing’an is our go-to hotel whenever we visit Shanghai. We live in Hangzhou and often travel to Shanghai, usually on weekends. Since moving to Hangzhou last year, we’ve always stayed at this hotel—it’s become our preferred choice because of the excellent service, comfortable rooms, and outstanding staff. Everyone, from the concierge to the hotel bar, room service, breakfast team, and front desk, has been helpful and professional. We’ve never had any issues during our stays—in fact, this was our fifth time staying here.
However, during our recent stay on Friday night, for my husband’s weekend birthday celebration, we encountered some problems. We checked in late and went straight out for dinner. When we returned to our room, I stepped on a wet patch next to the bed. I was fairly certain it was urine, but we gave the hotel the benefit of the doubt, assuming it might just be water. We called the operator—who, I must say, was not the most helpful staff member we’ve encountered here. She sent two employees to inspect the wet spot, and they insisted it was only water. We offered to dry it ourselves with a hairdryer, so my husband tried. As soon as he began, a strong odor became apparent—it definitely smelled like urine. My husband pressed tissues onto the rug to check the liquid’s colour, and they turned yellow.
We called the operator again, and she said someone would come to re-examine it. After waiting 15 minutes with no response, we called once more at 11:30 PM—I was exhausted by this point. My husband spoke to the same person, who assured us someone would arrive soon. Again, no one came. At 12:30 AM, my husband called again, now extremely frustrated. Finally, a staff member arrived and called someone on the phone what I assume was the hotel manager. To our disappointment, the manager asked an unreasonable question: “What time did you check in? Why didn’t you report this immediately?” My husband replied that we had entered the room at 7 PM, we were thinking why we would inspect every inch of the rug for wet patches? Eventually, they moved us to another room of the same type.
After settling in, I took a shower and reached for the body lotion from the bathroom amenities—only to find it half-used. By then, I was at my limit and wanted to complain at the front desk, but it was already 1 AM, and I was too tired. We decided to sleep and address it in the morning.
After breakfast, we spoke to a front desk staff member, who was very kind, apologetic, and helpful. She brought the manager, who also apologized and upgraded us to a beautiful suite. While we appreciated the gesture, this might be our last stay at this hotel.
That said, the staff at Kunlun Jing’an are truly excellent—this experience was just an unfortunate exception.
