We had a wonderful two-night stay at Hotel La Fortezza and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Florence. The hotel is conveniently located about a 10–15 minute walk from Firenze Santa Maria Novella (SMN) train station. If you prefer public transportation, there is a bus stop just a 2-minute walk from the hotel, making it easy to reach all the major attractions. Our room was spacious, clean, comfortable, and full of character. We especially appreciated having a room with a window, and everything was well maintained throughout our stay. One of the first things we noticed was the hotel’s pleasant signature fragrance, which created a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. The staff were friendly and professional, but we would especially like to thank Mr. Buli, who was working the night shift. We returned to the hotel late one evening after all the nearby restaurants had closed. When he learned that my son was hungry, he kindly prepared fresh sandwiches and yogurt for us from the hotel kitchen. His kindness and willingness to help went far beyond our expectations and made us feel truly cared for. Another thoughtful service was that the hotel offers complimentary travel adapters for guests, which was very convenient. Overall, we had an excellent experience and would happily stay at Hotel La Fortezza again on our next visit to Florence. First off, great crew at the front desk. Whether it’s answering my calls requesting the ironing board, or calling a cab for me the day of my departure, they were always available and willing to help. The issue is they might have overdone it in one instance when I put a note on the room door before leaving asking not to be disturbed and came back to see someone had gotten into my room, changed sheets and towels + “arranged” my stuff. Nice intention but got me confused looking for certain things. The gym was also a little disappointing: tiny, very limited equipment and only fit for one person at a time. It’s really a space to do yoga and stretch, with one treadmill. But it helped nonetheless. The real elephant in the room was the location. I found this hotel looking for a place in Florence and this is very misleading from the booking platforms. The city is Prato, there are no Ubers, public transit tricky to navigate (walk 10-15 minutes + take 2 buses and a train to get to Florence in a trip that totals 1h30 min on average) and taxis are rare + expensive (the cheapest I paid was 50€ for a 13 min trip to the airport). Not to mention most taxi drivers are clearly scamming you because they know you’re desperate, turning off their meters and asking you to pay cash. Overall, not my most memorable experience and would only recommend if you’re staying in Prato. If you plan to visit Florence and are tempted to book a cheaper hotel north of the city, think twice.

This was one of the best hotels we stayed at during our trip to Italy. Everything was excellent. The room was spotless, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and the hotel offered so many unique experiences that made our stay even more enjoyable. Every detail made us feel welcome. Unfortunately, an unexpected accident happened during our trip, and my mother broke her wrist. We had no choice but to cancel the rest of our travel plans. It was one of the most stressful days of our journey. What truly touched us was the kindness of the hotel staff. They were incredibly caring and even delivered a handwritten card to our room. They thoughtfully wrote “Get well soon” in Chinese, which was such a lovely surprise. Although I don’t know the name of the wonderful lady who prepared the card, I sincerely want to say thank you. Your kindness brought light to one of the hardest days of our trip, and we will never forget it. Thank you to everyone at TSH for your warmth and hospitality. We hope to come back one day under happier circumstances. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Florence.🫶🫶🫶

I would give this hostel a perfect score if it weren't for its location. The living conditions are ideal; the beds are even more comfortable than those in a hotel. The only issue was that the air conditioning was too cold and couldn't be adjusted, making me feel a bit chilly at night. The staff were very helpful, and the lobby was clean and cozy. However, this hostel feels more like a hotel than a traditional hostel because there's no communal kitchen. You can use a card to operate the washing machine and dryer, though. There's a study area, and it seems you can even book yoga classes and other activities. If, like me, you prefer to stay closer to the city center, this might not be the perfect choice, as the nearby bus route 17 is often delayed or unreliable. But if you prioritize a comfortable living experience, I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Great stay! As some people mentioned in the reviews, the rooms are indeed tiny, and we couldn't even fully open our large suitcases. But the wonderful and incredibly varied breakfast more than made up for it. The service staff were also extremely friendly and even gave us an upgrade to a room with a balcony since we were on our honeymoon. Unfortunately, there were renovations happening on the streets, so we didn't have a beautiful view of the river, but that was just bad luck. The hotel also offered a shuttle service to the center of Florence at fixed times, which was a really nice bonus. Highly recommend!

All good, for a four star hotel the rooms are a bit so-so given the rooms and the price... little maintenance we had problems with the shower closing, and the bed was made a bit so-so, the rooms are not very soundproof (we could hear both the guy in front snoring and the one next to him talking) for the rest very friendly and helpful there is the possibility of parking in front of the hotel so very convenient and for work it is fine.

Well located hostel. The bunk beds are great, feels like each is a single bed and you barely disturb other guests. It is also within a convent, just on the back of a church, quite a peculiar (positively) place.
