To optimise your budget, it is recommended to:

  • compare prices across different travel dates, as rates can vary significantly depending on demand
  • book in advance for popular periods, or check last-minute deals for more flexible trips
  • use filters to set a maximum price per night and quickly identify the best options
  • prioritise well-rated hotels that offer good value for money rather than simply the lowest price
  • check options such as free cancellation or breakfast included to avoid extra costs

Caught in a weekend + peak season, the room rate was quite expensive. The room itself wasn't very big, but we were able to check in early. With the sofa bed pulled out, there was barely any space left after opening our luggage. The windows were sealed, and the air conditioning worked decently. Breakfast was a typical English breakfast, and it was included by default with our stay. There were no vegetables or fruits, but it was filling enough. The hotel is within walking distance of the train station. Recommended for a short stay.

The location is great, and a morning stroll through the town was lovely. The only downside was that the hotel's air conditioning wasn't working. I contacted the front desk three times, but to no avail. The first time, the lady at the front desk suggested turning it on and off multiple times to activate it. The second time, she came to the room to demonstrate, but when that didn't work, she said she'd go to the server room to adjust the AC settings, which also yielded no results. The third time, when I contacted a different staff member at the front desk, I was asked, 'Has someone already tried to fix it?' Then they brought a fan, repeatedly saying 'I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry.' They explained that the AC cooling system couldn't be activated because the weather in York was cool. It was just 'I'm sorry' after that. It was the first time I'd heard such a reason for an AC not working. Nevertheless, the town of York is still very beautiful.

Great hotel! Absolutely would recommend. Room was lovely and clean, hotel in a great location. Easy to walk to/from town and to the high street. Staff were lovely, great little tuck shop area to buy drinks/snacks. And air con which was a god send in the recent hot weather. I initially booked into a different hotel which was awful, found this place and booked immediately - very happy I moved!

【Honest Review of Ibis Styles York 🇬🇧】Second stop on our Europe trip with one adult and three kids! This hotel has an elevator and, surprisingly for the UK, offers free luggage storage. The fish and chip shop next door is a hop-on-hop-off bus stop, and we made full use of our 24-hour pass right up until the last minute – super worth it! ⚠️ Challenges: There's a slight uphill walk from the train station if you're dragging luggage, and the room size is on the smaller side. 💡 My thoughts: Although it's a 15-minute walk to the main bustling area, which is a bit far, in the cool British weather, it's actually a super easy and pleasant stroll when you're not carrying luggage! #YorkAccommodation #UKTravel #FamilyTravel #OneAdultThreeKids #HopOnHopOffBus #HonestReviewSeries #UKDailyLife

Amazing location including a balcony over the river (from the hotel bar). The bedrooms were nicely decorated and in reasonable condition. There were no drawers for clothes and the wardrobe had no doors, there were just open shelves and open hanging rails with some coat hangers provided. There were several Yorkshire teabags and instant Nescafé coffee sticks (with sugar and milk) provided, and gourmet biscuits. The WiFi was fast. Plug sockets (including USB) were available by the bed but there were no sockets next to the bed. There is no air conditioning but fans are provided. The bathroom was in very poor condition with rust, mold, a very loud extractor fan and a light that took a long time to turn on. Water pressure was excellent however. Breakfast was a typical Full English buffet with sausages, bacon, mushrooms, scrambled eggs, tomato, fried bread and hash browns. Cereal and pastries were also available. You do need to reserve a breakfast time each day. My room was cleaned daily during my stay with tea/coffee/milk/biscuits replenished

I stayed for two nights. I stayed in one of the Sidings Double rooms and was pleased with the size, comfort and cleanliness of my room. It was a very quiet part of the hotel, and although I had a great view of the garden and station - I heard no noise at all so had a very peaceful sleep. The only slight disappointment I have, is that the hotel pool was quite tiny and was too crowded even at an off peak time, but this does not detract from the hotel and the leisure facility is really just a bonus - there is so much to see and do within the city that I had plenty to keep me occupied during my stay. York is a magical place. Would I stay here again? Absolutely. I have already booked this hotel again to bring my young son and do a spooky ghost tour in the autumn. Location-wise this hotel can’t be beaten, and the hotel staff are super helpful and friendly.

I am very disappointed with my room assignment. Before my arrival, I specifically requested rooms near the elevator and connecting rooms (or at least rooms close to each other) because I am traveling with my young children. Unfortunately, none of my requests were accommodated. Instead, I was assigned two separate rooms on different floors (2nd and 6th floors). To make matters worse, each floor requires a separate key card to access, making it extremely inconvenient and nearly impossible for my family to move between rooms. Additionally, one of the rooms is located at the very end of the hallway, far from the elevator, despite my request for a room nearby. These arrangements are the exact opposite of what I requested and create significant difficulties when traveling with children. I made these requests in advance because they are important for my family’s safety and convenience, yet they appear to have been completely overlooked.

It's about a 17-minute walk from the train station, which can be a bit of a trek if you have luggage. You can store your bags for free in the basement before check-in. It's an old building, so there's no elevator, but the staff kindly helped me carry my luggage upstairs when I checked in. The lack of a bed curtain was a slight inconvenience, but overall it was a good stay.

I booked a room and checked in, but when I saw it, the room was too small for me and my three children. The hotel's front desk was very kind and switched me to a slightly larger room on the first floor, but it had a strange smell. I ended up checking out and rebooked through Trip.com. The conditions at the Inn were indeed a bit subpar, and the price wasn't low either. I wouldn't really recommend it.

The room I booked is a family room. Spacious. In addition to a king size bed, there is one more single bed on the side. Room is clean and staff are friendly. Location is close to the city centre, within a few minutes walking distance. Next to the hotel is a restaurant. You have all you need nearby. However it doesn’t provide parking and WiFi comes with a charge. I chose this hotel because it says parking is available on Trip.com. But it turns out not. This part Is a bit disappointed.
