  • book in advance for popular periods, or check last-minute deals for more flexible trips
  • use filters to set a maximum price per night and quickly identify the best options

The room was quite spacious, and the front desk gave me a king-size bed, which was nice. The lady at the front desk provided excellent service, which is definitely worth mentioning. The hotel breakfast was impressive, with a good variety and tasty food. The hotel's location is fantastic; it's within walking distance to both the train station and Shambles. It's a great choice if you're visiting York. The only slight drawback was a faint smell in the bathroom, but it was fine once I closed the bathroom door when I went to sleep.

We had the most gorgeous stay at No.1 Guest House - if there wasn’t so much to see and do in York we would have happily just stayed in and enjoyed the hotel all weekend. The staff were amazing, especially Ellie, who made us feel so welcome and couldn’t do enough for us. We loved just sitting in the bar area with a cocktail (the rosy margarita was amazing) and looking at all the art and the cute steam train. The hotel is sooo cosy and perfect for this time of year. We will definitely be back!

Breakfast was okay, not a huge variety. The bedding and towels were clean. However, the room's floor felt slanted to one side, and even the bed frame and mattress were tilted. Since I was staying alone for just two days, I was too tired and lazy to bother switching rooms.

The hotel's location is quite convenient. After exiting York station, you just walk around the city walls, and you'll be there in about ten minutes. The room generally felt quite new and very quiet, making for a comfortable stay. York isn't very big to begin with, so all the main attractions are within walking distance from the hotel. Although the breakfast selection wasn't extensive, it was definitely enough to fill you up. 👍

Roomzzz strikes a nice balance between practicality and personality. Small touches throughout the property, from the playful messages on the room doors to the thoughtful room design, give it far more character than a typical aparthotel. The room itself was spacious, well equipped and exceptionally comfortable. The bed, climate control and shower all stood out, particularly on one of the warmer days of the year. Having a kitchenette, iron and other essentials readily available made the stay effortless, while the underground parking was convenient and secure. The location was also pleasantly quiet, offering a welcome escape from the busier parts of the city. The main opportunity for improvement is around flexibility. Charging for both parking and early check-in felt a little disappointing, especially when the room was already available. A small gesture in these situations can leave a lasting impression and elevate the guest experience. That aside, the friendly team, comfortable rooms and attention to detail make Roomzzz a place I'd gladly return to.

The location is super convenient, within walking distance to the train station and all the attractions, restaurants, shops, and supermarkets. The hotel facilities are a bit dated but generally complete. There's a cute little elevator at the entrance, which is handy for people with large luggage or those who have trouble with stairs. My room was assigned as a smoking room, so there was a lingering smoke smell and I couldn't open the window to air it out. However, the duvet and pillows were very soft and comfortable for sleeping. The bathroom sink has separate hot and cold taps, which is quite unusual; the hot water was very hot, so I had to run the cold water first before turning on the hot. I later found out this design is common in other parts of the UK. Thankfully, the shower tap didn't have this issue. I'd recommend bringing your own toiletries. The front desk offers luggage storage, but there's a sign warning that they aren't responsible for lost items. We didn't have any issues with lost luggage during our stay, though. When we visited, there was some flooding, so if you're driving, I'd suggest avoiding the flood season or not parking your car in the garage. Overall, for a short one-night stay, it offers good value for money.

No toothpaste, toothbrush, hair dryer. Wifi is only free for 30 min/day and you have to pay or wait until the exact time next day to have wifi available again (imagine you logged in for wifi at 11pm, have it for only 30 minutes, then can only have the next wifi service 11pm the next day but guess what, you check out at 11am already so there's no use! I've never seen a hotel offer just 30min of free wifi, even hostels). 5G mobile data cannot work in the room, so it's very annoying with such terrible wifi service. Tea spoons are dirty, got black old tea/coffee mark on it (which can be clean if you just wash them 1 minute with water at the sink, but it seems the staff didn't even bother to clean them even just for 1 minute rinsing under water). Overall my first time with this hotel brand and I'm so disappointed!

The hotel is right by the city walls, and some rooms even offer views of them. The room was a bit small but very clean and tidy, and it even had a bathtub – perfect for a relaxing soak after exploring the old town. It's only a ten-minute walk to York Minster and The Shambles, and it's wonderfully peaceful to visit them in the mornings and evenings before the crowds arrive. The English breakfast was decent, and you can enjoy views of the old town from the dining area on the first floor.
